Buried penis affects a significant percentage of males. It refers to the penis appearing to be buried in the pubic area. This occurs because of the natural body contour, extra fat in the pubic area, short penis or a combination of any of these factors. When the penis is flaccid, it does not project through the high pubic area.
After circumcision, the penis will disappear in the pubic area and people may think the penis is not properly circumcised. However, when the penis is erect or the surrounding area is pressed down (pubic area), a proper circumcision is revealed.
This does not affect the function of the penis or sexual activity. No treatment is needed and this may become normal after puberty. Weight loss may reduce the high pubic area if the cause is due to extra fat.
There is an extra charge for patients who have a buried penis depending on their age and method of circumcision to be carried out.
